Think about the last time you were scared, jumping and flinching in a haunted house possibly. You eventually calm down and relax but without conscious relaxation and under repeated stress your muscles will hold the pattern and cause pain.
Every time you practice yoga, it will be different. Your Downward Dog will feel different every single time.
Be objective and notice what you need in the present moment.
If you try to get where you were yesterday, you may push an injury or worse...miss out on what today holds.
In my last practice, I was able to fully let go of my heavy body into the ground.
Even my heavy head containing my chatty brain succumbed to being held and for a moment I felt who I was beyond aches, pains and thoughts. I, of course, attempted to repeat this experience in my next practice and attained nothing close. Holding onto the past experience closed me off from what I needed in the present.
